/Share_The_Rainbow

For Skittles' new "Experience the Rainbow" campaign (led by Big Spaceship), Firstborn created a new microsite entitled "Share the Rainbow". This was a shared experience where visitors were invited to record "Sharing" and "Tasting" videos, and then mash those together to create funny video sequences of Skittles being sent over the screen ("sharing") and being received on a separate video ("tasting"). Everything was done by using YouTube's (then) somewhat novel XML API through a custom Flash client library.

This was well in line with Skittle's unorthodox approach for online advertising: a playful take on sharing, something that still was starting to become part of the online, social media parlance.

Ultimately, the website failed to gather much traction; it didn't go "viral" as expected. Still, I think it's a great example of amusing design, witty copywriting, and crafty development.
